anatomy of hinoki | Isamu Hazama
This project compiles the first stages of research on hinoki trees acquired by the author in satoyama. He first prepared a single hinoki log by dividing it into four sections approximately 60cm long. By cutting each section horizontally or vertically—except for one left as is— he obtained the basic shapes of points, planes, and lines. Observing each shape from different angles suggests that even the same material can provide multiple perspectives, demonstrating the possibilities inherent in the material and the diverse ways of viewing a single thing.
